Do Performance Reviews Really Matter?

We’re almost certain you read that headline and said “of course!” If you did, you’re pretty
accurate. Conducting performance reviews can be a time-consuming task for both management
and the employee at times. But its importance is almost invaluable, as the benefits at multiple
levels of your organization are priceless.

Think about it. When organizations conduct performance reviews of employees, the aim is to
evaluate their ongoing performance, compare it to past performance, and have a conversation to
set expectations moving forward. In essence, it lets the team member what’s working and what’s
not working with their work ethic and output. Without performance reviews, an employee not
performing up to standard has the opportunity to continue working at a sub-par level, ultimately
hurting the overall productivity of the company. Sometimes, the damage could be quite hard for
the business to absorb and bounce back from. On the other hand, it’s a way to validate great
performance by stand-out employees, making way for recognition of excellence among your
team, all while increasing staff morale.

If you’re an employer, when was the last time your organization conducted performance
reviews? It’s recommended these be done twice, or at the very least once per year. Luckily, in
this age of advanced technology, the time-consuming aspect of this process has decreased.

Digital human resources platforms like TriblockHR have made this aspect of employee relations
incredibly easy. Through it, employers have the ability to assess each employee’s performance,
also while giving the team member an opportunity to weigh-in on this assessment. Simply put,
once done right, digital HR platforms do a phenomenal job in facilitating the conversation
between employer and employee, regarding the review, making space for open and honest input
and feedback for each employee. The time taken to prepare and write performance reviews have
since been slashed in half, making way for more productivity throughout the organization.
