Statutory Deductions
Every mandatory payroll deduction for Barbados employers
Barbados has the highest combined NIS rate in the Caribbean, approximately 23.85% when the employer's NIS contribution and Health Service Contribution are included. The Resilience and Regeneration Fund was increased from 0.1% to 0.25% in April 2025. PAYE runs at two income bands, and the severance formula is the most tiered in the region. Every pay run here requires careful attention.

|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| NIS, National Insurance Scheme | 11.1% | 12.75% | BBD $1,238/week | $5,360/month (eff. Jan 2026) | Insurable earnings | Employee rate may have adjusted to 11% from April 1, 2025, verify with NIS Barbados. Remit by 15th of following month. |
| Health Service Contribution (HSC) | , | 1.5% | Up to NIS insurable ceiling | Insurable earnings | EMPLOYER ONLY. Combined employer burden: NIS 12.75% + HSC 1.5% = 14.25%. Remitted with NIS. |
| Resilience & Regeneration Fund | 0.25% | 0.25% | No ceiling, gross earnings | Gross earnings | Increased from 0.1% effective April 1, 2025. Both employer and employee pay 0.25%. Formerly the Catastrophe Fund. Remitted to NIS office. |
